Vance Says Epstein Files Reveal “Incestuous” Culture in US
The newly disclosed files, made public last week by federal authorities, contain previously unseen material drawn from Epstein’s estate and past investigations. The collection reportedly includes more than three million pages of documents, around 2,000 videos, and roughly 180,000 images. Together, the records have revived attention on Epstein’s long-standing relationships with influential figures in politics, finance, and technology, showing that he remained connected to prominent individuals even after his 2008 conviction.
Speaking in an interview cited by reports on Tuesday, Vance said the material exposes a “pretty incestuous nature” among elite circles in the United States and described the revelations as “pretty gross.” He mentioned figures such as Tesla and SpaceX chief Elon Musk, former US President Bill Clinton, and billionaire Bill Gates, saying the disclosures reflected “very poorly on them.”
According to the documents, Musk exchanged messages in 2013 discussing a possible visit to Epstein’s private island, asking about “a good time to visit,” with Epstein offering to arrange transportation by helicopter. The visit never took place, and Musk has stated that he never went to the island.
Another record from 2013 includes a message Epstein sent to himself claiming that Gates had asked for assistance obtaining drugs “in order to deal with consequences of sex with Russian girls.” A representative for Gates rejected the allegation as “absolutely absurd and completely false.”
Bill Clinton and his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, have since agreed to provide testimony to the House Oversight Committee as part of its investigation into Epstein. The former president has previously confirmed that he traveled on Epstein’s private jet in the early 2000s while denying any misconduct. The couple initially pushed back against subpoenas, describing them as “invalid and legally unenforceable.”
Commenting on US President Donald Trump, whose name appears in the files thousands of times and who has denied having a close relationship with Epstein, Vance said Trump “knows a lot of these people” because of his wealth and public standing, but “is very much outside of the social circle” and was not deeply involved.
Trump has also accused Epstein of acting against him, writing on social media: “I never went to the infested Epstein island but, almost all of these Crooked Democrats, and their Donors, did.”
